Pug is a dog race with a wrinkled face and body of medium size. The word "Pug" comes from the Latin meaning Pugnus fist, like the face of a pug that looks like a punch.

Pug held to entertain the Chinese emperors during the Shang Dynasty (1776-1122 BC) in the East China, was known as the Lo Chiang-Sze or Foo. Pug popularity spread to Tibet, especially a large number kept by the monks, and then brought to Japan and finally Europe.
